Add an Assessment

There are three ways you can add an assessment:

  • Create using assessment builder - Add an assessment from scratch, building questions within Isidore.
  • Create using markup text - Add an assessment by formatting questions and copying and pasting them into Isidore.
  • Import from file - Import an assessment you've exported from Isidore.

Adding an Assessment Using Assessment Builder

To create an assessment from scratch using the assessment builder:

  1. Navigate to the Tests & Quizzes tool in your Isidore course site.
  2. Click on Add.
  3. Enter an assessment title.
  4. Ensure the "Create using assessment builder" option is selected.
  5. Click on Create.
  6. Add questions to the assessment by selecting a question type next to "Add Question".
    • Depending on the question type you selected, you'll need to enter items like answer point value, question text, correct answers, and feedback.
    • Click on Save when you're done editing the question.
  7. Continuing adding questions.
  8. Once all questions have been added and you've reviewed your work, you can proceed to the "Settings" area and publish the assessment. For more help with these options, please visit the See Available Settings and Publish an Assessment pages.

Adding an Assessment Using Markup Text

Before following the steps below, format your text file by following the Format Questions for Markup Text instructions.

To create an assessment from scratch using markup text:

  1. Navigate to the Tests & Quizzes tool in your Isidore course site.
  2. Click on Add.
  3. Enter an assessment title.
  4. Select the "Create using markup text" option.
  5. Click on Create.
  6. Outside of Isidore, open the formatted text file that contains the questions, point values, correct answers, and answer choice options.
    • Select all of the text by highlighting it.
    • Copy all of the text.
  7. In Isidore, click into the text box and paste the text you copied into it.
  8. Click on Next.
  9. Review your questions, answers, and point value to ensure no corrections need made. If corrections are needed, click on the Back button near the bottom of the page. If everything looks good, click on the Create Assessment button.
  10. A draft of the newly created assessment should appear on the screen. You can proceed to the "Settings" area and publish the assessment. For more help with these options, please visit the See Available Settings and Publish an Assessment pages.

Importing an Assessment from a File

Before following the steps below, please review the Export an Assessment page.

To import an assessment from a file:

  1. Navigate to the Tests & Quizzes tool in your Isidore course site.
  2. Click on Add.
  3. Click on Import.
  4. Click on Choose File or Browse....
  5. Navigate to where the exported-assessment file is saved on your computer, select it, and click on Open.
  6. Click on Import.
  7. A draft of the newly imported assessment should appear on the screen. You can proceed to the "Settings" area and publish the assessment. For more help with these options, please visit the See Available Settings and Publish an Assessment pages.
