Enabling New Grader

New Grader is enabled by default. But, if you've switched to Classic Grader and wish to re-enable New Grader, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Isidore course site.
  2. Navigate to the Assignments tool.
  3. Click on the Grade link beneath the title of the assignment you wish to grade.
  4. Ensure that the box next to "Use new Grader to grade submissions" is checked. This check box is located in the upper right-hand portion of the screen.
  5. Proceed with grading students' submissions.

Using New Grader to Grade Assignment Submissions

To review student submissions and grade assignments:

  1. Navigate to the Assignments tool in your Isidore course site.
  2. You will see a list of assignments.
  3. The "In / New" column displays the number of submissions that have come in from students (the "In" value) and the number of new submissions (the "New" value) for each assignment.
  4. Under the name of the assignment you want to grade, click Grade. You will see a table with a list of students' names. Click on an individual student's name to view and grade their submission.
    • If a student has saved an assignment as a draft, you will be able to grade the assignment, but you will be unable to see the text of the student's draft until the due date has passed.
  5. The text of the student's submission will be displayed on the screen. If the student submitted more than one file, you can click on the links under "Submitted Attachments" to view text of the other submitted files.
  6. Next to "Grade", select the grade for the student's assignment, or enter points in the box.
  7. You can click on the Feedback Comments button to enter your grading comments that students will see.
  8. You can click on the Add Attachments button to upload a feedback file for students to review.
  9. If you wish to allow the student to resubmit the assignment, check "Allow Resubmission", and use the drop-down menu to set the number of resubmissions allowed. Then, next to "Accept Resubmission Until", set a resubmission deadline.
  10. When grading is complete, click Save and Release to Student to make the student's assignment grade immediately available, or click Save to return to the submitted assignments list to continue grading.
    • If you choose the "Save" option, you'll need to release grades to all students when you're finished grading. When you are ready to make feedback available and/or send grades to the Gradebook, click on the Release Grades link when you're viewing the list of students for an assignment.
