Instructors, who wish to use Isidore, must create their course sites each semester. These instructions will show you how to create your Isidore course site(s) three different ways.

Create a Site from Scratch

This option allows you to create an empty (or blank) course site. If you choose this option, you'll be able to select which tools are installed in the course site.

  1. Click on the Sites menu in the upper right-hand portion of the screen, or:
    1. Click on the Isidore header to be dropped to your Home (Isidore Home).
    2. Click on the My Courses tool in the menu bar on the left-hand side of the screen.
  2. Click on Create New Site.
  3. Select the academic term in which you'll be teaching and select Continue.
  4. Any courses that you're listed as the instructor of record will be displayed on the screen. To create a course site, select the check box next to the course you would like to create. Please note that if you select multiple courses during this step, they will be combined into the same course site. If you would like to create separate course sites, you need to create your course sites one at a time. Click on Continue.
    • If you do not see your course(s) listed, select the "Subject", "Course", and "Section" from the drop-down menus.
    • If you still don't see your course listed, click on the Still cannot find your course/section? link and manually enter the "Subject", "Course", and "Section". A request will go to the Office of E-Learning who will either approve the request or will contact you for more information.
  5. Click the radio button next to Create a site from scratch and click Continue.
  6. Verify your name and email address on the next screen and click Continue.
  7. Check the box next to the tools you wish to use in your course site. Please note that students are often annoyed if a tool sits empty all semester, so make sure that you're only selecting tools that will be used during the course. Click Continue.
  8. Select whether the course should be published (made available to students) and click on the Create Site button. If you choose not to publish your course site, your course will automatically be published by 8 AM on the day the new term begins.
  9. Your course site is now available. You may begin modifying it for the upcoming semester.

Duplicate a Site

This option allows you to create an exact copy of another course site. If you select this option, no student submissions, forum posts, or grades will be copied over to the new site.

  5. Click the radio button next to Duplicate an existing site and click on Continue.
  6. Click the radio button next to the course you would like to duplicate from. You may use the "Search" box to type in something like "MKT_300" to locate a previous course. Choose whether you would like to publish this site (make it available to students). Click on Create Site. If you choose not to publish your course site, your course will automatically be published by 8 AM on the day the new term begins.
  7. Your course site is now available. You may begin modifying it for the upcoming semester.

Create a Site, re-using specific tools

This option allows you to create a site from scratch, but you can select specific tools you would like copied from another site. For example, maybe you only want to use Assignments from last semester. This option would allow you to do so.

  6. Check that your name and email address look correct, then click Continue.
  7. Under the "Re-use Material from Other Sites You Own" heading, click the radio button next to Yes, from these sites: and select the course you're wanting to re-use specific tools from. Click Continue.
  8. On the next page, select the check box next to the tool(s) you would like to copy from the other site and click Continue.
  9. Select whether the course should be published (made available to students) and click on the Create Site button. If you choose not to publish your course site, your course will automatically be published by 8 AM on the day the new term begins.
  10. Your course site is now available. You may begin modifying it for the upcoming semester.
